Partners in the BRAWA Project
Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg
Otto von Guericke University is the coordinator of the BRAWA research project. Based on comprehensive fire statistics for socio-cultural buildings, fluid mechanical simulations of fire gas dispersion in complex building geometries as well as evaluation algorithms for the sensor network to be generated are being developed. Further information can be found here.
University of Münster
The "human" factor can be decisive: How can optimal alarming, information and permanent motivation of helpers in fire protection be achieved? This is the main question addressed by the psychological subproject of the project. Further information can be found here.
German Fire Protection Association (GFPA)
The GFPA is the expert network for protection, rescue and safety.
For a safe life, the GFPA deals with current and future-oriented safety issues in a trend-setting manner. The GFPA participates in research and development from the user's point of view. It supports experts by providing technical information, guidelines and publishing a technical-scientific journal. Further information can be found here.
GTE Industrieelektronik GmbH
The business unit Special Fire Detection Technology of GTE Industrieelektronik GmbH deals with early fire detection in industrial environments and distributes a system of special fire detectors, which enable highly adaptive and interference-free early fire detection under adverse environmental conditions. As part of the project, GTE is developing stationary sensor nodes, each of which contains a microcontroller for reading out the sensors as well as an interface to a central evaluation unit. Furthermore, the GTE researches evaluation and classification algorithms of the sensor data. Further information can be found here.
SIEMENS AG
As one of the leading system suppliers in the field of fire protection, Siemens AG takes its responsibility for protecting our cultural heritage very seriously. The BRAWA research project is intended to expand and enrich the existing forward-looking fire protection portfolio. For example, the BRAWA project is testing the use of miniaturized drones equipped with state-of-the-art sensor technology to support fire protection in historic buildings for the first time
BAM
The area "Room Fires and Fire Behavior of Construction Materials" of the Department 7.5 Technical Properties of Polymer Materials of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (German abbreviation: BAM) deals with the identification and characterization of fire development scenarios in sociocultural infrastructures within the BRAWA project. Typical fire indicators of these fires are identified and investigated with regard to their suitability for early fire detection. The focus here is particularly on the characterization of smoke gas release.
HEKATRON Vertriebs GmbH
As a manufacturer of products and services for system-based fire protection, we interconnect parts of the sensor technology for fire detection in the research project and deal with the earliest phase of the fire. In the research project, we are also looking into the question of which type of alarm sound, depending on different frequencies, sound pressure levels, age and attention level, is particularly effective in alerting the people affected and those providing assistance. Further information can be found here.
Associated Partners
Zentralverband der elektrotechnischen und elektronischen Industrie e.V. (German Electrical and Electronic Manufactures' Association)
The ZVEI - Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) represents the common interests of the electrical industry and the associated service companies in Germany and at international level. Every third innovation in the manufacturing sector in Germany receives its original impetus from the electrical industry. The industry employs 873,000 people in Germany and more than 790,000 abroad. Further information can be found here.
Klassik Stiftung Weimar
Exploring the past. Shaping the present. Designing the future.
The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is responsible for unique testimonies from over 500 years of European intellectual and cultural history and has the task of bringing this cultural heritage to life in its museums, palaces, parks and scientific institutions. It sees itself as a driving force and strategic partner for research and educational projects - in Thuringia, in Germany and internationally. As a modern and future-oriented knowledge organization, the foundation sees its involvement in the BRAWA project as an expression of its sense of responsibility for the heritage entrusted to it. Further information can be found here.
German Insurannce Association (GDV)
The German Insurance Association (GDV) is the umbrella organization of private and public insurance companies in Germany. The association's task is to represent insurance companies vis-à-vis political and social institutions. As a service provider for its more than 460 member companies, it develops publications on damage prevention. Further information can be found here.
University Hospital of Jena
How do you ensure that important sounds are heard even in the presence of background noise (e.g. traffic noise, conversations, etc.)? And even when the alarm has been set to silent (e.g. on a cell phone)? By answering these questions, the University Hospital of Jena is supporting the BRAWA research project. Further information can be found here.
